Honorable Mustapha Ussif, the Minister in charge of Sports in Ghana, does not seem to be happy with certain dealings of the Ghana Amputee football club, even though they succeeded in bagging the 2024 African Amputee Football Cup Of Nations(AAFCON) award.
He stated, in a press conference, that there is hierarchy in every institution, therefore considerations and other acknowledgements should be followed, before embarking on any decision.
It has been alleged that the coach of the Ghana Amputee Team has paid a visit to Former President, John Dramani Mahama, without the knowledge of the Sports Minister.
This is an act which Mustapha Ussif finds quite distasteful and unwarranted, because there are certain rules that need to be followed, to prevent stampede of power.
He went on to emphasize that the $10,000 prize awarded to the Ghana National Amputee football club is not their property, but rather should be in the government’s coffers , which calls for vivid accounting of the donation.
Mustapha believes that it would have only be right for the team and management to have informed him, before taking any decision regarding the team.
It is, also, worthwhile to note that the Sports Minister has the upper hand in all Ghana National team affairs and any sport-related activities, that is why there should have been enough transparency.
